From a fresh opening like a Captain's tipple of gin-grapefruit tonic, it settles into a fig and black-tea signature. From High Seas to High Tea, the surprise lies in the reassuring comfort that comes next, as the milky-fig-tea accord takes hold. Progressively smooth; now magnolia, now lavender, but ultimately, the daring, dark and debonair woods (cedarwood, wenge) leave a trail as striking and vigorous as the wake of the East India Clippers, fast, cargo-bearing ships bringing teas, for the Earl of Grey, back from Darjeeling and Assam. A fragrance as novel as (finally!) the sight of land on the horizon, and at the same time as reassuring as - tea.
